$26.00 CAD
Unit price perThis is a nicely shaped Darwinite or Darwin Glass Tektite weighing 0.5 grams and measuring 12x9x4 mm. Tektites are natural glass of meteoric origin that are found between a narrow equatorial belt of 80 degrees wide. They are often referred to as being from "the moon" or "shooting stars", which they are not. A meteor/comet impact forced molten meteorite/earth up into the atmosphere where it quickly cooled and returned to the earth after their short visit to space, raining Tektites!
The name tektites come from the Greek word "tektos", which means melted. They are unusual, irregularly or at times intricately shaped piece of silica-rich glass. They have no crystal structure and are therefore similar to obsidian but are not associated with a volcanic formation process.
Tektites exhibit a number of meteoritic features, including ablation and atmospheric melting, flight orientation, some have been tied to certain strewn fields, are very different from native rocks, sometime nickel-iron is found in some and more. However, they don't have the isotopic characteristics of a long period of time in outer space and also lack the cosmic ray exposure.
At one time they were even quite common, however tons of them were used during the 80's for lapidary faceting. Metaphysical people have also long used tektites for channeling energy in various ways.
A crater over 1 kilometer across was discovered in the dense rainforest near Mt. Darwin Tasmania in 1972. This massive impact occurred over 700,000 years ago leaving behind beautiful pieces of Impact Glass. It showed hardness of 5 - 6 and specific gravity of approx. 2.5 with mostly twisted shapes
This piece displays extremely well and is a quality translucent specimen (as show in the last two pictures, which are backlit). It has an aesthetic shape and would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection and a Meteor Passion specimen cards.
Apophyllite is a mineral known for its distinctive crystal formations, often occurring in clusters with a unique beauty. Its crystals are usually colorless or white, allowing them to be transparent or translucent. Although, some specimens may exhibit a greenish, yellowish, or pinkish tint due to the presence of impurities.
Prehnite can form prismatic, tabular, or pyramidal crystals, but usually occurs in botryoidal, reniform, stalactitic, granular, or compact habits. It is usually green in colour, but may be white, colourless, yellow, or gray. It has a colourless streak. Prehnite is transparent to translucent, with a vitreous to pearly luster. Prehnite forms in cavities in basaltic lavas.
Apophyllite is believed to promote self-reflection and authentic self-expression, helping to reduce stress, release mental blockages, and overcome anxiety by revealing truth and facilitating the release of suppressed emotions. Prehnite is considered a stone of unconditional love, known for its healing properties, especially for healers, and is thought to bring harmony to spaces, assist in decluttering, and create a healing sanctuary, particularly when used in gardens.

This is a superb Pink Halite crystal mass. This great specimen is in very good condition and would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection.
Pink Halite is a type of Halite that had its color tainted from bacteria of various algae species. Halite is known as the natural form of salt and is a very common mineral found near oceans and salt lakes. Kłodawa lies on the Rgilewka (a tributary of the Warta River). The Kłodawa Salt Mine, the largest operating salt mine of white and uniquely pink salt in Poland, extracts halite and salts of potassium and magnesium. Deposits date back over 200 million years. The Klodawa salt bed is the largest in Poland – 26km long and 4km wide. The total length of the underground tunnels in the mine is about 350km.
Salt has been mined here for more than half a century by traditional mining methods which allow the natural qualities of the salt to be preserved.

Unit price perThis is a great 147.5 gram fossilized Micraster from Rzezusnia, Poland.
Micraster is an extinct genus of echinoids from the Late Cretaceous to the early Eocene. Its remains have been found in Africa, Antarctica, Europe, and North America. Micraster was an infaunal echinoid living in a burrow below the sediment surface. The test (hard shell) is clearly bilateral and there is a deep anterior groove to take in water containing organic particles to the mouth. The tube feet keep a supply of nutrient-laden water moving into the burrow. The anus has a waste tube behind it.
Although dinosaurs are the most well-known fossil life forms, Equinoids are also a favorite among those familiar with Paleontology (the study of the development of life on Earth). The specimen measures 60x60 mm.
