The principal member of the Aragonite Group, aragonite is the second most common polymorph of natural calcium carbonate (the most common is calcite). It is significantly less widespread and abundant than calcite and is formed under a much narrower range of physiochemical conditions. It is metastable relative to calcite and often converts to calcite accompanying changes in the environment. It is nearly always a low-temperature, near surface mineral.

This colorful carved gemstone sculpture, utilizing the naturally occurring maroon ruby and pale green zoisite combination, depicts a mighty lion.  The artist from Thailand has sculpted the lion in a set position providing some nice detail and optimizing the color for the shape of the sculpture.

Ruby is the second hardest stone after diamond so few artists have managed to successfully work this mineral since it requires a very advanced technique for carving and polishing.  This carving reflects the artist's hard work to show the beauty of both the stone and the subject.  A must have in your collection.

This is an etched part slice of the Gibeon classified meteorite mounted on a Sterling Silver medallion, made by an artisan from Mexico. The Widmanstatten pattern on this Gibeon stands out remarkably, making for an eye catching pendant. The thin part slice measures 11x7 mm and is placed onto a silver medallion measuring 34x18x2mm.  The total weight of this pendant, including meteorite and silver, is 13 grams.  This Iron (IAV) classified meteorite was found in Great Nama Land Namibia in 1836.  So far approximately 26 T of this material have been recovered.

Gibeon pieces are becoming more difficult to acquire so this is a good time to get a fine specimen.  Comes with a Canagem® Collection specimen card.

Lapis lazuli or lapis for short, is a deep-blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color.  Lapis lazuli commonly contains pyrite and white calcite. The pyrite inclusions in natural stones are randomly scattered throughout the stone and have irregular outlines that are surrounded by darker blue rings.  

Lapis Lazuli encourages taking charge of life.  It is said to reveal inner truth, encourage self-awareness, and self-expression without holding back or compromising.  This stone is believed to bring the enduring qualities of honesty, compassion and uprightness to the personality.

Lapis Lazuli is said to bond relationships in love and friendship and aid in expressing feelings and emotions.

This is a Selenite sphere from Morocco. The sphere comes from a selenite mass of Satin Spar, and is partially clear (the rest is translucent), with a lovely Chatoyancy.

Gypsum is one of the more common minerals in sedimentary environments. It is a major rock forming mineral that produces massive beds, usually from precipitation out of highly saline waters. Since it forms easily from saline water, gypsum can have many inclusions of other minerals and even trapped bubbles of air and water.

Gypsum has several variety names that are widely used in the mineral trade. "Selenite" is the colorless and transparent variety that shows a pearl like luster and has been described as having a moon like glow. The word selenite comes from the Greek for Moon and means moon rock. Another variety is a compact fibrous aggregate called "satin spar" . This variety has a very satin like look that gives a play of light up and down the fibrous crystals. A fine grained massive material is called "alabaster" and is an ornamental stone used in fine carvings for centuries, even eons.

Selenite is said to be a calming stone that instills deep peace and is excellent for meditation.  Selenite has an ethereal quality and is said to inhabit the place between light and matter.  Although an ancient stone, it is still one of the most powerful crystals.

It is said that Selenite can be used to form a protective grid around a house, creating a safe and quiet space that does not allow outside influences in.  A large piece of Selenite placed in the house ensures a peaceful atmosphere.

Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection.

This Chinese gem stone is called Shoushan Stone after the name of a small village in the Fujian Province, China. This stone is mined in Shoushan and is a very rare and valuable stone for collectors.
