This is a nice .67 gram fragment of the Tatahouine meteorite which is classified as a stone achondrite, Diogenite (ADIO) Ca-poor.  This rare meteorite fell on June 27, 1931 at 0130 hours about 2 1/2 mi. NE of the village of Foum Tatahouine, Tunisia.

This rare Diogenite broke into thousands of small fragments, most no larger than a gram. The large mass broke up near the earth's surface and as a result fusion crust is virtually absent, making this a difficult meteorite to recognize. If it had not been witnessed, it most likely would never have been found. Tatahouine is one of a few meteorites that is only available in small sizes, most are under 1 gram.

This piece is a very desirable type of material and a great specimen all around. The specimen is accompanied by two specimen cards, a Dean Bessey The Meteorite Shop and a Canagem® Collection card. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection.

All specimens are authentic with all provenance information provided.

Certificate of Authenticity, Specimen Information Cards and/or Appraisals are provided when applicable.
