Stone Meteorites

This is a superb looking Dhofar 221 classified meteorite weighing 63.52 grams. Its dimensions are 67x42x17 mm. This L5 classified meteorite was found in Zufar, Oman in 2000. The total weight of the 100's of pieces recovered is recorded as a low 3.54 kg and the meteorite has a shock stage of 3 and weathering grade of 3.

This piece displays extremely well because of its beautiful crust, superb shape and is a good size. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

This is a superb end cut of the famous Northwest Africa 4295 meteorite weighing 17.22 grams. This is a beautiful specimen from the famous Hupé Meteorite Collection.

Its dimensions are 39.58x25.76x14.87 mm. This North West Africa was originally classified as an Enstatite EL6/7, then an EL3 and finally an EL-Melt Rock meteorite and was found along with the rest of the total mass of only 312 grams in the Algerian Desert in August 2005.  This is one of the oldest meteorites on our planet in terms of terrestrial age and has been referred to as a fossil meteorite. 

This Enstatite chondrite shock Level is minimal and weathering varies from 2 to 5. This piece displays extremely well and is a completely recrystallized enstatite chondrite with polygonal to irregular grain outlines. The grain size varies from 0.02 to 0.7 mm. Round, curved, blocky objects contain coarser-grained orthopyroxene than in the matrix. No relict chondrules were observed.

Here we have for you a nice looking end cut of a Sahara Desert NWA unclassified meteorite weighing 153.87 grams. Its dimensions are 73x44x49mm. This never classified North West Africa stone was found in the Sahara desert around 2000.

It's a good quality cut NWA meteorite specimens showing interesting internal structure (L5?) and somewhat attractive with a mottled interior with chondrules and metallic flakes. Some weathering shows the meteorite's time spent aging in the desert. Displays nicely with a ground and rough polished without a mirror finish.

This is a superb individual Tsarev meteorite weighing 45.7 grams. Its dimensions are 52x24x23 mm. Twenty-eight specimens of this L5 classified meteorite were found in fields.  The largest mass weighs 284 kg, the smallest 761 gr with a total weight of 1.23 Tons. The greatest distance between the find sites was 6.0 km.

In 1968, amidst a global surge in conflicts, a remarkable discovery was made in a small village in Volgograd Oblast. This region, known as the primary site of the Battle of Stalingrad—one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history—yielded an extraordinary find in the quiet fields near the rural village of Tsarev.

The Tsarev meteorite, named after the Russian word for czar, is a stone meteorite responsible for one of the largest meteorite showers in Russian history. This meteorite shower occurred on December 6, 1922, but the stones were not discovered until 1968 and only recognized in 1979. The Tsarev meteorite's mineral composition matches that of ordinary chondrites, including olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, maskelynite, calcium phosphates, nickel-iron, troilite, chromite, ilmenite, and rutile.

Academic analysis of the Tsarev meteorite reveals significant features: large grains of nickel-iron, light grey areas with well-preserved chondritic texture, and dark areas containing a matrix with olivine grains and remnants of chondrules.

This is a superb looking Dhofar 323 classified meteorite weighing 36.38 grams. Its dimensions are 71x42x5 mm.  This H5 classified meteorite was found in Zufar, Oman in 2001. The total weight of the single piece recovered is recorded as a low 688 grams and the meteorite has a shock stage of 1 and weathering grade of 4.

This piece displays extremely well because of its beautiful color and multiple chondrules. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

Here we have for you a superb looking Dhofar 020 classified meteorite weighing 67 grams. Its dimensions are 57x37x32 mm.  Found 10 March 2000 in Dhofar, Oman, in the Arabian Peninsula this H4/5 classified chondrite has a TKW of 256 Kg with a shock stage of S4 and weathering grade of W3 by the Russian Academy of Sciences, USSR.

The following is an excerpt from Mark Bostick's review of this meteorite:  "Dhofar 020 is a ordinary stone chondrite meteorite. The meteorite is high in free metal and therefore falls in the H class. S4 tells it is highly shocked. Slices of the meteorite, show veins of the cosmic impact created mineral Ringwoodite, although fractures in the stone tend to hide this some. It almost appears to me to have splinted upon impact. The meteorite falls in 4-5 petrology class, a reference to how metamorphed the meteorite is from its original state. This is judged by studying a thin section of the meteorite, most visually at the chondrules, a feature unique to stone meteorite. In a thin section under polarized light, pyroxene chondrules seem more common then their olivine pair. Still some regions in the meteorite show scattered patches of bright olivine inclusions. These are fairly rare, at least on my thin section, and most of the meteorite's olivine and pyroxene, some of the easier things to see in a thin section, appear to have went through a metamorphism, and have "melted" into the matrix and are at times undistinguishable."

This is an incredible Korra Korrabes meteorite end cut of 18.1 grams, it measures 68x22x9 mm. This gorgeous classified meteorite is an H3 Chondrite and part of a 22 kg stone plus 11 smaller pieces totaling ~18 kg that were found November 1996 in a dry river bed by a farmer who was searching for Gibeon irons.

People searching with metal detectors recovered hundreds of additional buried, more weathered pieces within 50 m of the original material since 2000 November, bringing the total mass to ~120–130 kg. The largest specimen was used in a garden wall until August 2000.

Here we have for you a nice looking individual cut fragment of a Sahara Desert NWA unclassified meteorite weighing 140.7 grams. Its dimensions are 65x57x24mm. This never classified North West Africa stone was found in the Sahara desert around 2000.

This is a great looking NWA 1108 L6 Chondrite classified meteorite slice weighing 47.16 grams. Its dimensions are 50x31x21 mm. This L6 (S3/W2) chondrite classified meteorite was found in the Sahara Desert in 2003. 

The petrography shows some metal and sulfide grains are elongated, metal and sulfide veins are also present. Chondrules are poorly defined and very recrystallized. Some plagioclase grains are 50 μm in size. A few olivine grains contain planar fractures.

The official total weight of the 25 pieces recovered is recorded as 2.8 KG.  This beautiful meteorite comes from the Michael Cottingham Meteorite Collection.

This is a great looking H5 classified meteorite and a great looking professionally prepared full slice, this excellent specimen weighs 15.88 grams and represents the Capot Rey meteorite found in 2004 in Niger.  The total know weight of the find is at 38 Kilograms with a shock stage of S2 and weathering degree of W1.  This full slice measures 55x32x3 mm.

Many stony fragments totalling 38 kg were found by by G. Moreau in the erg Capot-Rey, Ténéré du Tafassasset, Niger. The stones define an elliptical strewn-field measuring 7x3.5 km, with a NE-SW major axis. The largest fragment weighs 2 kg.

This is a fabulous fresh Ghubara meteorite whole fragment weighing 43 grams and measuring 58x30x15mm. This meteorite was found in Oman, Southern Arabia in 1954 and is classified as an L5 Stony Black Chondrite.

These are fragments of the Abee meteorite (MB 8) that fell in Alberta, Canada at 11:05 p.m. on June 9th 1952.  It took five days to find it in a wheat field belonging to Mr Harry Buryn.  It is located in the community of Abee, Alberta, Canada in Thorhild County, along the Canadian National Railway and Highway 63, 16 km north of Thorhild and 49 km from Boyle.

This rare and highly collectable EH4 Enstatite chondrite is 1 of only 21 approved meteorites classified as such, 1 of 3 being an observed fall and only 1 of 5 not found in Antarctica. The total Mass is registered at 107 Kilograms in one stone recovered from a 6 ft (1.8 m) deep crater.  This is a great opportunity to acquire fragments that were used for testing in laboratory weighing 508 milligrams.
