This is a rare and fantastic 4.7 gram Libyan Desert Glass from Kuffra, Libya, with dimensions of 27x17x11 mm. Although its exact origin is still debated, the leading theory suggests it was formed by a high-energy event, such as a meteoric impact or airburst, that melted the desert sand directly where it lay, without being ejected into the atmosphere and re-entering. This results in different physical characteristics compared to tektites.
Libyan Desert Glass is found specifically in the Great Sand Sea of the Eastern Sahara, within a more localized area spanning parts of western Egypt and eastern Libya. Characterized by its yellow to greenish-yellow color, it lacks the aerodynamic shapes of tektites and often appears as irregularly shaped pieces. It is almost pure silica (around 98%) with very few impurities. Throughout history, it has been regarded as a mystical and powerful material, sometimes used in talismans and amulets.
This piece displays extremely well and is a quality translucent specimen. It has an aesthetic shape with a beautiful wind eroded body from the years spent in the Desert. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

This is a specimen of Star Mica or Muscovite and Quartz cluster. These clusters show crystals that grow in sheets or book formations. It is silvery gold with good transparency when held up to the light. The name Muscovite comes from the term Muscovy Glass which was a name for the thick sheets of Mica used as a substitute for glass Russia. The name Mica is derived from the Greek word that means to split.
On this nice specimen, the matrix faces are covered with beautiful golden yellow point stars of muscovite mica, a typical shape for this rare mica formation. The stars are the result of twinning; the points show a bit of wear but this does not detract from the beauty of such a piece.

Volcanic bombs are large clots of volcanic lava rock that are ejected from a volcano during an explosive eruption. They can vary in size, and their shapes are often streamlined due to their molten nature as they are thrown through the air. When these volcanic lava rocks contain olivine crystals, they are referred to as olivine volcanic bombs.
Mount Shadwell, a dormant volcano, was formed 25,000 years ago and is believed to have last erupted about 5,000 years ago. The town of Mortlake, which is situated at the foot of the volcano, is the self-proclaimed olivine capital of Australia. This is where large ejected rocks from Mt Shadwell, called volcanic bombs, are found.
This huge museum piece has been cut to show the green olivine crystals which are showcased beautifully against the surrounding black lava crust.

Creedite is a rare mineral that is best known for its radiating crystal clusters, which can appear in transparent to translucent orange, purple, white, or colorless hues. It was first discovered in Creede, Colorado, USA, which is how it got its name. Today, some of the best specimens come from Mexico (notably in Chihuahua), Kazakhstan, and Bolivia. In Mexico, creedite is often found as vibrant orange clusters, making it a favorite among collectors.
Creedite is thought to support spiritual growth, intuition, and clarity. Some believe it stimulates the third eye and crown chakras, aiding meditation and insight. Its bright, radiating form is often seen as a symbol of light and transformation.

This is a beautiful crystal featuring jet black Latrappite. There is a well defined cube of Latrappite at one end, as well as other less formed crystals throughout the specimen, seated on a carbonatite matrix. These lustrous black crystals of Latrappite are a rare calcium niobium oxide mineral that occurs in carbonatite and alkaline igneous complexes rich in niobium and other rare elements.
Latrappite was first described from the Oka carbonatite complex in Québec, Canada and was named after the nearby La Trappe locality. The mineral typically appears as small dark brown to black crystals or grains embedded in carbonatite rock. Oka is its type locality, making specimens from there of particular interest to Canadian mineral collectors. Would be a great addition to any collection.
