This specimen features beautiful brown Phlogopite crystals on matrix, from the Earl's Farm, Wilberforce, Ontario, Canada. 

Phlogopite is a fascinating mineral belonging to the mica group, recognized for its distinctive layered structure and glossy appearance. Its color typically ranges from light brown to dark brown, and it can sometimes display a golden hue. Phlogopite is notable for its excellent cleavage, allowing it to be split into thin, flexible sheets, much like other mica varieties.

Phlogopite is typically found in metamorphic rocks, especially in areas where there has been significant heat and pressure, such as around granite intrusions. It is commonly located in places like Madagascar, Russia, and parts of North America, often forming alongside other minerals, such as biotite and garnet.

This is a crystal combining Dolomite and Chalcopyrite.  The lovely, light pink blades of dolomite are will defined on this specimen and are covered in tiny chalcopyrite crystals.

Dolomite from the Joplin Mine in Joplin, Missouri, is well-known for its saddle-shaped crystal formations and association with other minerals like galena, sphalerite, marcasite and less frequently Chalcopyrite. The dolomite from this area typically forms in shades of white, beige, yellow, or pink, often with a pearly to slightly curved crystal habit.

Dolomite is often associated with stability, patience, and emotional balance. Some believe it encourages a sense of calm and centeredness.

Pink Halite is a type of Halite that had its color tainted from bacteria of various algae species. Halite is known as the natural form of salt and is a very common mineral found near oceans and salt lakes.  Kłodawa lies on the Rgilewka (a tributary of the Warta River). The Kłodawa Salt Mine, the largest operating salt mine of white and uniquely pink salt in Poland, extracts halite and salts of potassium and magnesium. Deposits date back over 200 million years. The Klodawa salt bed is the largest in Poland – 26km long and 4km wide. The total length of the underground tunnels in the mine is about 350km.

Salt has been mined here for more than half a century by traditional mining methods which allow the natural qualities of the salt to be preserved.

This is a lovely fossilized, and highly polished natural Orthoceras from Morocco.  It measures 43x13 mm and weighs 6.1 grams.  Orthoceras ("straight horn") is a genus of extinct cephalopod. This genus is sometimes called Orthoceratites. Note it is sometimes misspelled as Orthocera, Orthocerus or Orthoceros. Orthoceras are common fossils and have been found on many continents, including the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia. They are dated to the lower Ordovician to Triassic ages (500 to 190 millions years ago). They belong to a group of predators known as cephalopods, which includes their living relatives the octopus, squid, cuttlefish and nautilus. 

Orthoceras fossils are great as a collectors item or can be used for jewelry making.
