Canada - The Collection

Sodalite is usually found in the massive form, rather than crystals. Its name is derived from its sodium content. This stone is frequently found with lapis lazuli, but contains little or no golden pyrite specks in it as lapis does. It may, however, contain patches or streaks of white calcite. Although some people think that sodalite resembles lapis in some ways, it is entirely different in chemical composition and has more of a navy blue coloring.

This is an incredible fragment of the Abee meteorite (MB 8) that fell in Alberta, Canada at 11:05 p.m. on June 9th 1952.  It took five days to find it in a wheat field belonging to Mr Harry Buryn.  It is located in the community of Abee, Alberta, Canada in Thorhild County, along the Canadian National Railway and Highway 63, 16 km north of Thorhild and 49 km from Boyle.

This rare and highly collectable EH4 Enstatite chondrite is 1 of only 21 approved meteorites classified as such, 1 of 3 being an observed fall and only 1 of 5 not found in Antarctica. The total Mass is registered at 107 Kilograms in one stone recovered from a 6 ft (1.8 m) deep crater.  This is a great piece at 124 milligrams.

This hard to acquire piece is a high quality specimen that would make an amazing addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Dr. Martin Horejsi Collection of Meteorites and a Canagem Collection specimen cards and is displayed and protected by a gem jar.

This specimen of Vesuvianite was collected in the now closed Jeffery Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada. The specimen is made up of a combination of green and mauve vesuvianite crystals. It is in good condition. A great addition to any collection!

Vesuvianite was first discovered on Mount Vesuvius in Italy in the 18th century, hence its name. It typically occurs as a green, brown, yellow, or blue-green crystal, and is often found in metamorphic and igneous rocks. The alternate name, Idocrase, is from the Greek eidos “form”, and krasis “mixture”, because Vesuvianite often appears to combine the crystal forms of other minerals. It is used as a gemstone.

Tory Hill is a small village in Ontario, Canada that is known for its Apatite Crystals. Apatite is a mineral that is commonly found in igneous rocks and has a variety of colors including green, blue, yellow, and brown. The apatite crystals from Tory Hill are known for their green color and transparency. 

Apatite is believed to possess healing properties and is associated with creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. It is thought to enhance communication skills, stimulate intellect, and promote clarity of thought.

It is a glassy green color; has all crystal faces and one termination. It is in good condition with some minor chipping.  This is a nice size specimen that will fit nicely into your collection.

This is a beautiful black Biotite crystal book from the Calcite Vein-Dikes of the Grenville Geological Province Ontario, Canada. This specimen is a great example of both the classic crystal shape and attractive dark coloration. 

Biotite is rarely considered a valuable mineral specimen, but it can accompany other minerals and compliment them. In Bancroft, Ontario, Biotite forms large crystals with green apatite and hornblende. Single large plates or "books" of biotite can grow to considerable size and can make impressive mineral specimens.
