Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose-colored member of the mica group of minerals.  Because lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica, it is often wrongly assumed that lithium is what causes the pink hues that are so characteristic of this mineral. Instead, it is trace amounts of manganese that cause the pink, purple, and red colors.  The most notable and certainly the most studied of these deposits is the Brown Derby #1 Pegmatite, located in the Ohio City/Quartz Creek District, approximately 18 miles northeast of Gunnison in the high mountains of Central Colorado.

This is a doubly terminated elbaite tourmaline with albite that shows great character of this famous combination. The tourmaline end has a flat pinacoid and this green crystal has luster and translucence. Comes mounted on a plastic stand.

It is believed that Tourmaline can be used to repel negativity.  It is said to enhance one's physical wellbeing by providing an increase in physical vitality, emotional stability, and intellectual acuity. It is associated with the root chakra.

Here is a rare combination of a mass of Scholzite needles covered by black Chalcophanite crystals on matrix from Australia.  Scholzite is a rare zinc phosphate mineral that forms nice bright white tabular crystals and is associated with other rare phosphates. Specimens can be especially nice when combined with other rare minerals such as Chalcophanite which is a rare zinc, iron, manganese hydroxide.

Pyrite is a fascinating mineral also known as "fool's gold" because of its metallic luster and brassy yellow color, which can resemble gold. It often forms in cubic crystals or as nodules in sedimentary rocks.  It gets its name from the Greek word "pyr," meaning fire, as it can produce sparks when struck against metal or another hard material.

An interesting thing about pyrite is its association with ancient civilizations. It has been discovered in artifacts from ancient Egypt and was used for ornamental purposes in jewelry.

This spectacular rock specimen consists of alternating layers of light blue-green amazonite and light grey smoky quartz topped by a biotite mica (muscovite) crystal. This special material is found in proximity of pegmatite melts to the surrounding country rock and is the result of quick cooling of the melt.

The term graphic originates from the Greek word Graphos or the Latin word Graphus which means to write. It denotes the script-like appearance that resembles cuneiform or runic writings where the darker, glassy quartz appears as letters or characters written on a lighter or whitish feldspar groundmass.
