$26.00 CAD

1 Only

Chalcanthite from Arizona is a striking copper sulfate mineral known for its vivid blue to blue-green color. One of the best-known localities is Planet Mine in the Buckskin Mountains, La Paz County, Arizona. Other Arizona localities include Bisbee, Morenci and the Patagonia mining district.

The mineral commonly forms elongated, fibrous or flame-like crystal clusters, sometimes with a glassy to pearly lustre. It develops in copper deposits, often through reactions involving mine water, and may occur with other copper minerals.

Important care note: Chalcanthite is water-soluble and can deteriorate with exposure to moisture. It is also toxic if swallowed, so avoid handling it unnecessarily, keep it dry, and wash your hands after contact.
