NWA 3117 Meteorite | 2.84 Gr | Rare Crusted Howardite End Cut | Low TKW | Morocco | SO24

This is a rare professionally finished Northwest Africa 3117 HED achondrite Howardite classified meteorite end cut weighing 2.84 grams. Its dimensions are  25x17x6 mm.

This achondrite howardite classified meteorite was found in the Sahara Desert in 2003 and is 1 of 463 approved meteorites classified as such. The total weight of the recovered pieces is recorded as a low 234 grams.

Hupé stated "This Howardite displays a shock-darkened matrix with beautiful orthopyroxene clasts. Although the laboratory cannot conclusively pair this with other Howardites found in Northwest Africa, it is my belief that there are other pairings. Howardites are usually friable but not this one, which takes an excellent polish making it very showy when processed properly."

This expertly prepared specimen comes with an identification card from The Hupé Collection and a Canagem specimen card. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection.
