NWA 400 Meteorite | 3.65 Gr | End Cut | H5 Chondrite | Crusted | aka Oum Rokba | Morocco | SO24

This is an incredible crusted end cut Northwest Africa (NWA) 400, formerly named and sold as Oum Rokba, meteorite from Morocco Western Sahara. This superb piece weights 3.65 grams and measures 25x17x6 mm.

This H5 classified meteorite was obtained from the M. Farmer Collection.  It was bought by him in Africa in September 2000 and it was classified by UCLA.  This meteorite was comprised of several hundred complete stones, with a total weight of around 100 kilos.

This meteorite was found by a nomad a few kilometers from an Oasis named Oum Rokba, which means "Old woman's knee" in Arabic! How the oasis got that name we'll never know.  The meteorite has a distinctive, smooth exterior devoid of fusion-crust; interior has abundant metal-grains.

There is no official total known weight recorded for this meteorite.  This amazing meteorite has been classified as a H5 chondrite, with a Shock stage of 2 and weathering of 2.  Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Michael Farmer Meteorites and a Canagem Collection specimen card.
