Libyan Desert Glass | Natural Impact Glass | 6 Grams | Authentic Impactite | SO24
$30.00 CAD
Unit price perLibyan Desert Glass | Natural Impact Glass | 6 Grams | Authentic Impactite | SO24
$30.00 CAD
Unit price perThis is a rare and fantastic 6 gram Libyan Desert Glass from Kuffra, Libya, with dimensions of 40x14x14 mm.
Although its exact origin is still debated, the leading theory suggests it was formed by a high-energy event, such as a meteoric impact or airburst, that melted the desert sand directly where it lay, without being ejected into the atmosphere and re-entering. This results in different physical characteristics compared to tektites. Libyan Desert Glass is found specifically in the Great Sand Sea of the Eastern Sahara, within a more localized area spanning parts of western Egypt and eastern Libya.
This piece displays extremely well and is a quality translucent specimen. It has an aesthetic shape with a beautiful wind eroded body from the years spent in the Desert. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

Approx Weight (per piece): 2.0ct
Size: 8mm
Shape: Round Diamond Cut
Color: Green
Clarity: VVS
Origin: China

Moissanite has become a popular alternative to diamonds for jewelry. Moissanites have a similar appearance to diamonds and often look nearly identical to the untrained eye. They share the brilliance, sparkle, and fire that diamonds are known for, making them an attractive choice. With moissanite, it is possible to have a beautiful gemstone for a fraction of the price of a diamond. Moissanites are primarily produced in laboratories, offering a controlled and consistent quality. This aspect appeals to those who prefer gemstones with known origins and minimal environmental impact.
Originally discovered in a meteorite crater, Moissanite is well known worldwide as the world’s most brilliant gemstone, better than diamonds. Moissanite is incredibly rare in its natural form; however, lab created moissanite is identical to the original with hardness second only to diamond. Moissanites have a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale, while diamonds are a 10. This makes moissanite suitable for everyday wear and less prone to scratching or damage.
This sparkling round cut green moissanite is a great choice for any jewelry project.

This is a specimen of Star Mica or Muscovite and Quartz cluster. These clusters show crystals that grow in sheets or book formations. It is silvery gold with good transparency when held up to the light. The name Muscovite comes from the term Muscovy Glass which was a name for the thick sheets of Mica used as a substitute for glass Russia. The name Mica is derived from the Greek word that means to split.
On this nice specimen, the matrix faces are covered with beautiful golden yellow point stars of muscovite mica, a typical shape for this rare mica formation. The stars are the result of twinning; the points show a bit of wear but this does not detract from the beauty of such a piece.

Henbury fell 8 miles southwest of the town of Henbury, Australia almost 10,000 years ago. RA Alderman investigated the site in May 1931 based upon Aborigine stories. He found 13 craters, the largest of which was 720 x 360 feet. Few meteorites were found in the largest three craters indicating an explosive impact.
