Unit price perMonturaqui Impactite | 34.4ct. 6.88 Gr | Rare Specimen | Monturaqui Impact Crater, Chile | SO24
$57.10 CAD
Unit price perThis is an outstanding Monturaqui Impactite specimen weighing 6.88 grams. It measures 23x22x17 mm. Although not a meteorite, impactites are directly linked to them and their impacts.
Some of the recovered pieces of this impactite show tiny bits of the original iron meteorite. There is very little of the original meteorite left at this impact site, but sometimes when these Impactites are sliced you can find small fragments of metal in them. This specimen was collected by Michael Cottingham during an excursion to the Impactite Site.
The Monturaqui Crater is located in a very remote part of North Chile's Atacama Desert. This crater measures about 370 meters in diameter. Less than 4 kilos of Iron Shale fragments and about 50kg of Impactites have been found so far. This crater was made over 100,000 years ago. The only evidence remaining of the original meteorite is seen in the shale and impactite.
Impactite is a slag-like glassy object found on the surface of the earth, formed from rock melted by the impact of a meteorite. The term encompasses shock-metamorphosed target rocks, melts or suevites and mixtures of the two, as well as sedimentary rocks with significant impact-derived components and shocked mineral grains, tektites, anomalous geochemical signatures, etc.
This piece displays extremely well. It is amazingly light considering its mass. It has a unique hollow sound when you tap it. This Chilean find is very well shaped and preserved. These impactites are becoming more difficult to acquire so this is a good time to get a fine specimen. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection.
This specimen originates from the Michael Cottingham Meteorite Collection and is guaranteed to be authentic. The specimen will come with a Michael Cottingham and a Canagem specimen card.

So far approximately 23 tons of this material have been recovered. This piece displays extremely well and is a very desirable size. These specimens are known as shrapnel specimens, ripped and torn edges reminiscent of bomb shrapnel. They broke due to atmospheric pressure and/or mid-air collisions, and possibly explosive fragmentation upon impact. These pieces are a good example of the shrapnel type Sikhote-Alin.

The impact origin of Libyan Desert Glass is still disputed by some scientists and the exact impact site has not been located, although there is clear evidence that an impact has happened. The glass was discovered during an expedition of an international scientific community in 1932; and in 2013, a published analysis of a small black rock proposed that this sample was the remnant of a cometary impact.
The major component of Libyan Desert Glass is almost pure molten silica glass. Proof exists that Libyan Desert Glass had been used as a gemstone in the making of jewellery by the Pharaohs in ancient Egypt.

Impact Breccia Part Slice | 13.28 Grams | Metal Rich Impactite | Sudbury Structure, Canada | SO24
$20.60 CAD
Unit price perImpact Breccia Part Slice | 13.28 Grams | Metal Rich Impactite | Sudbury Structure, Canada | SO24
$20.60 CAD
Unit price perThis is a must have 13.28 gram Metal Ore Copper rich Impact Breccia from the famous Sudbury Astrobleme Impact Structure in Ontario Canada. Its dimensions are 29x14x13 mm. Although not a meteorite, impactites are directly linked to them and their impacts and are probably going to be one of the rarest collection pieces you'll ever own.
Mark Bostick wrote "About 1.87 billion years ago, an object from space nine kilometers in diameter slammed into Canada, a little north of Sudbury, Ontario creating the second largest impact structure on the earth. This impact was equivalent to a billion tons of TNT. An impact so big it cracked the earth, and in fact there are still earthquakes because of that event today! The many mineral rich deposits and strange rock formations in such close proximity has attracted attention for 100's of years, long before its impact origin was known.
Note that this is not a meteorite but a slice of Earth rock, altered by the impact of a very large meteorite. This came from the ring of the impact and is the harder to find gold-copper-bronze colored impactite described as a metal-rich breccia and sulfides composed chiefly of some amount of iridium, cobalt & selenium. In addition, most of these specimens will contain nickel, iron, sperrylite and pentlandite as well as minor amounts of other metals, metallic & silicate minerals."
Note that this is a very fragile material so it will be packed with attention. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a copy of a signed Mark Bostick Collection and a Canagem Collection specimen card.

This specimen is certainly one of a kind. The Canyon Diablo meteorites are a must for all collectors, more so that it is now illegal to search and collect them on site. They are a very interesting IAB-MG iron discovered in 1891 and there is an estimated 30 MT of this material.
This individual displays very well with the shape of its interior structure visible as a pointy crystal shape or end; would make a beautiful addition to any collection or start one today. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

NWA 869 classified meteorites can still be interesting and this one is for sure perfectly shaped to catch your attention. It displays a superb crust on most of its surface. Most samples are individual meteorites but some fragments (mostly >1 kg) also occur. In most cases the fusion crust has been polished or ablated by wind erosion. Many samples are more severely affected and show faces with deep wind erosion features. Fracture faces, formed by ground collision, show a typical gray-green color and sometimes visible brecciation (light and/or dark clasts).

Unit price perMundrabilla Meteorite | 12.92 Gr | Etched End Cut | Iron IAB-ung | Australia | SO24
$87.39 CAD
Unit price perThis is a superb professionally etched end cut specimen of Mundrabilla classified meteorite weighing 12.92 grams. It measures 36x16x5 mm. This Iron IAB-ung classified meteorite was found in the Nullarbor Plain, Western Australia in 1911. So far approximately 24 tons of this material has been recovered.
The meteorites were found by geologists R. B. Wilson and A. M. Cooney while engaged on a geological survey. Both masses are lying within only very slight depressions in clayey soil, some 180 m apart. The larger mass tends to have a crude conical to hemispherical shape with the nose partially buried in the soil. The axis is inclined at an angle of approximately 60°. Evidence of fragmentation of a larger mass is afforded by a sharp, angular, vertical face on the larger mass, which matches both in size and shape, a similar sharp face on the smaller mass. Preliminary study indicates that the meteorite came from the west at relatively low velocity and high angle. The larger mass has been presented to the Western Australian Museum, while the smaller mass is in Geosurveys possesion (Adelaide, South Australia).
This beautiful specimen displays very well it's superb etched face while maintaining an interesting exterior, so you have the best of both worlds. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.
Olivine Volcanic Bomb | Lava Coated Crystal | 211.3 gr, | Mortlake, Victoria, Australia | SO24

Unit price perOlivine Volcanic Bomb | Lava Coated Crystal | 211.3 gr, | Mortlake, Victoria, Australia | SO24
$105.65 CAD
Unit price perAn olivine volcanic bomb is a type of volcanic rock that contains olivine crystals and has been ejected during a volcanic eruption. Olivine is a mineral that is commonly found in the Earth's mantle and is one of the first minerals to crystallize as magma cools.
Volcanic bombs are large clots of lava that are ejected from a volcano during an explosive eruption. They can vary in size, and their shapes are often streamlined due to their molten nature as they are thrown through the air. When these volcanic bombs contain olivine crystals, they are referred to as olivine volcanic bombs.
This piece has been cut to show the green olivine crystals which are showcased beautifully against the surrounding black lava crust.
Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.
