This fascinating meteorite was mainly found as small individuals and the total weight of the 100's of pieces recovered is recorded as a low 25 kg. The meteorite has a shock stage of 4 and weathering grade of 2.  NWA 4293 is interesting in the way it looks as can be seen in the images.  Most pieces are free of caliche, have a smooth gray surface and are small complete individuals.  The unusual appearance is due to shock hardening and being sandblasted in the desert.

This is a beautiful 21.8-gram Libyan Desert Glass with dimensions of 52x28x19 mm.  This impact glass was found in a strewn field in the Western Desert of Egypt.

Although its exact origin is still debated, the leading theory suggests it was formed by a high-energy event, such as a meteoric impact or airburst, that melted the desert sand directly where it lay, without being ejected into the atmosphere and re-entering. This results in different physical characteristics compared to tektites​.
