Libyan Desert Glass | Natural Impact Glass | 12.3 Grams | Authentic Impactite
$64.00 CAD
Unit price perLibyan Desert Glass | Natural Impact Glass | 12.3 Grams | Authentic Impactite
$64.00 CAD
Unit price perThis is a rare and fantastic 12.3 gram Libyan Desert Glass from Kuffra, Libya, with dimensions of 39x22x15 mm.
Although its exact origin is still debated, the leading theory suggests it was formed by a high-energy event, such as a meteoric impact or airburst, that melted the desert sand directly where it lay, without being ejected into the atmosphere and re-entering. This results in different physical characteristics compared to tektites. Libyan Desert Glass is found specifically in the Great Sand Sea of the Eastern Sahara, within a more localized area spanning parts of western Egypt and eastern Libya.
This piece displays extremely well and is a quality translucent specimen. It has an aesthetic shape with a beautiful wind eroded body from the years spent in the Desert. Would be a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a Canagem Collection specimen card.

Dhofar 1085 Meteorite | 40 mg | Part Slice | Lunar Impact Melt Breccia | Moon Rock | Low TKW
$269.00 CAD
Unit price perDhofar 1085 Meteorite | 40 mg | Part Slice | Lunar Impact Melt Breccia | Moon Rock | Low TKW
$269.00 CAD
Unit price perThis is a gorgeous part slice of the Dhofar 1085 meteorite. This material was found in 2003. This specimen weighs 0.040 gram and is housed in a membrane box for display. The known total weight is set at a minuscule 197 grams. This nice specimen of anorthositic (anorth) Lunar is 1 of only 78 approved meteorites classified as such.
The lunaites of this group comprised of Dho 908 and Dho 911 are from a very old meteorite fall, which can be recognized at the outer realm and the non existing melting crust. In the cut it shows however, that this lunaite is very fresh inside, maybe a result of the very high density of the material. It consists of a homogenous impact-melting glass in which are included a multitude of optically and scientifically very interesting clasts- brownish impact-melting, partially with very big white anorthite clasts, dark shock veins, as well as reddish and dark clasts of rare lunar stones (troctolites and norites)
This piece displays extremely well and is a very desirable type. This quality piece would make a beautiful addition to any new or existing collection. Comes with a specimen card and a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Quartz crystals are among the most abundant and well-known minerals on Earth. It belongs to the hexagonal crystal system, and typically forms six-sided prismatic crystals with a pointed termination. Its crystals can be colorless or exhibit a wide range of colors. The color variations are often due to the presence of impurities or trace elements during the crystal's formation. Quartz is transparent to translucent.
Quartz is considered a “master healer.” It's said to amplify energy by absorbing, storing, releasing, and regulating it. It's also said to aid concentration and memory. Physically, clear crystals are claimed to help stimulate the immune system and balance out your entire body.

These great specimens of Staurolite come from Keivy, in the Kola Peninsula, Russia. The staurolite is twinned, with the intersecting crystals forming a "Fairy Cross". Staurolite is a common metamorphic mineral famous for its twinned crystals that form into the shape of a cross. Its name comes from the Greek word for cross.
The twin is a classic penetration twin where it appears as if two crystals grew into and out of each other. It actually forms two twin types; one is nearly 90 degrees and the other nearly 60 degrees. It was associated with Christianity as a symbol for the cross and as a good luck charm. It has been given the names "Fairy Stone" or Fairy Cross" as it was believed to be formed from the tears the fairies shed when they learned of Christ's death.
These crystals are excellent for jewelry making.
